Moments of note in 2019

Yum Yum!

We had our annual Congregational Picnic after the service on Sunday, 14 July 2019. Instead of meeting up at the Rose Garden, we met on the grass in front of the Barracks which made for only a 100 yard trip from the Church. Fortuitously, it was a lovely day. As usual, it was very pleasant to commune with church friends and share our food.

Let's Party!

It's always a delight to have a christening/blessing/baptism in the Church and we felt it important for the children (and families) to meet up. So, on 11 May 2019, a group of the children and their parents/carers met up at the Church for a wee party. A lovely time was had by all.

We few, we happy few ...

Our New Horizon group organised a special trip furth of Berwick in May 2019 to Mellerstain House in Gordon (Scottish Borders). Our group mustered at the Church around noon and had a super day out visiting the house, its lovely grounds and the Borders Sculpture Park.

The Great Cheviot Haggis Hunt of 2019

We held a Haggis Hunt on Sunday, 28 July 2019, in aid of church funds and the Berwick & District Cancer Support Group. Some 22 teams participated and the winners were Team Nil-lng.

Here you will see the proud members of Team Nil-lng with their trophy and the prize haggis. The team showed great enthusiasm ('We ran round the walls, making sure no-one would beat us.'). That determination was rewarded.

The enthusiasm shown at the Haggis Hunt means we will be having another one next year. The authors of the Hunt are currently working out even more difficult clues for next year's version!

For those of you keen to know the answers, the sheet is below.

Shrove Tuesday - 5 March 2019

Members of the congregation and visitors enjoyed a lovely coffee morning on Tuesday. This was to remember that it was Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday.

The coffee was good, the tea was superb (always the best cup of tea of the week) and the pancakes were light and fluffy (accompanied by home made strawberry jam, of course). Thanks, as usual, go to our faithful bakers, setter-uperers and washer-uperers!
